Tucson - Hemet

Tucson to El Centro to Hemet

Gaslight Theatre

The Gaslight Theatre is celebrating over 35 years of entertainment in Tucson.   The dinner theater seats 225 and features various comedy plays with a Southwestern flair.   We went with friends to see "Soulsville."
NOT THE SAME AS BUMPER CARS

A celebration of soul, funk, and R&B with feature hits by the Temptations, the Four Tops, Otis Redding, Sam and Dave, Marvin Gaye, the Jackson Five, Stevie Wonder, Gladys Knight, etc. . . . . performed by International Touring Artist Walter Belcher and American Idol finalist Crystal Stark.
Soulsville ... ....   ..... . .. . . .
awesome, awesome performance!  !   !

A great venue - food was a fifties diner style with pizza, dogs, quesadillas and an unending supply of popcorn for each table.

The cast of the Doritos Award Winning Super Bowl Commercial Contest "Time Machine, " made a pitstop  at the Gaslight Theatre for media interviews, autographs and picture taking.  The cast and director are all from Arizona, including the well known Gaslight Actor, David Wilkins, who plays Mr. Smith in the Doritos Commercial.

TIME FLIES WHEN YOU'RE HAVING FUN

Our friend and pickleball "Guru" came through town while in Tucson  . . . nice to visit and have you stay with us, even though brief!

Thanks .. more to think about!
Meaning, thank you . . .  truly!

Cactus Wren
Left Tucson Wed, Feb 26th.  A five to six hour drive to El Centro, California.

Just west of Yuma (at the Algedones, Mexico border) are miles of dunes.  A popular area for people to dry camp in the desert and four-wheel, dirt bike or dune-buggy.

First time staying at Rio Bend Rv Resort in El Centro (West of Yuma, AZ).   A nice, quiet and small RV park about 10 miles west of El Centro, we stayed on the 'lake.'   This RV resort caters primarily to golf with a nine-hole course and a layed back, friendly atmosphere.   They have a small pool, hot tub, gym and two pickleball courts.   They share amenities with Sunbeam Community Centre which is about two miles away (a huge park with BMX, baseball diamonds, pool and pickleball courts).

Our view out the window.   We experienced extreme winds (warm winds) for the two and a half days staying here.  The dust was so extreme in the Imperial Valley that the mountains were obscured from view.   A storm has hit the southern part of California.   Near Los Angeles extreme rain and flooding.

Golf Course (view from the side of our site)

While driving back "home" one evening we noticed an entire town blinking off, then on with red lights.   Lights would come on for about two seconds, then turn off.
Red light district? (anyone who has been to Amsterdam has heard of the Red Light District).   What?  Turns out there is an entire hillside with windmills and they were required to put these flashing lights on for the airplanes.

The RV Resort has various old wagons throughout the park - a nice tribute to history.

The wind endured through the evening until around 4 am.   Then all was quiet and serene.

Off to Hemet, Saturday, March 1st.

Parked next to the pickleball courts.
Two years ago this was Marcs (and my) first experience with pickleball ... In the parking lot.   Wow - can see how his hard work in the gym has paid off - he has lost weight since this photo!

Took the dogs to one of their favorite haunts ... a steep hill by a golf course in the desert ... I call it "Bunny Hill"   It was pouring so hard that we got a short distance and turned around.   Tomorrow, it will be perfect - little 'rivers' running and some cloud coverage.
