Life at Rincon West in Tucson, Arizona
First Shoot Out (Pickleball tournament) at Rincon West on February 18th. We did not partake but Marc, of course, stood by for 'support' and I took photos for the day.
Rincon has a club that has grown to about 90 members and a keen club. With a lot of effort and organizing, the club has organized drills and skills, open play but also times for meet ups with several people came from other areas to come and play with the group while we were there. We had a great time and met a lot of fabulous people. The pickleballers were very gracious to us and appreciated what we could bring to some of their games.
Tazz at Kennedy Park. I frequented Kennedy Park with the dogs. I met up with some people who also frequented the area and got to know a few people who walked around the park. Skateboarders would sometimes show up to practice on the stage and steps of the stage. The field and outdoor concert area is huge and even though the neighbourhoods around the RV Park and this park just a five minute drive away are sketchy, I always felt okay in this field as I could see, right up until dark, all around.
An overview of the field where we frequent and in the distance is Kennedy Lake (manmade) utilized for day picnics and fishing. A short ten minute hike up the hill gives us this incredible view of Tucson.
Approximately 40 bicycles were stolen from the RV Park so far this winter. They have security and the thieves are spotted riding bikes through the wire fence that was sliced open, out into the wash areas and gone.
We didn't use the bikes for one day and then one evening went to Tubac with Marc's aunt and uncle, returning around 9 pm. At some point, our highly expensive and heavy locks were hacked; someone tried to snip them then there were marks where someone tried to use a drill to cut through the chain.
Went cycling with Marc's aunt and uncle from Mesa (this young couple on the bike path were doing things a different way).
A beautiful memorial to history in these arches . . . .
Every single ceramic cube was a letter towards some beautiful history.
Pima County Detention Center. . . . we have often seen this on TV when watching Border Security.
Don't know the significance of the chicken BUT "Wisdoms" (a family owned business) is a huge success and super busy. A Mexican Restaurant and we waited an hour to get in on a Tuesday evening. The draw is half price Margueritas! Interesting, as people were leaving just 'hammered' and they have to go through a border patrol crossing back to Tucson from Tubac.
We saw a program on TV that border patrol are not allowed to pull people over for DUI BUT ..... they can detain people. Not sure where these people diverse but a lot of them were having difficulty navigating the step out of the bathroom!

OK - --- difficult to manage the step after seeing this in the ladies bathroom!
Okay, maybe the 2nd step is also a problem after this in the bathroom!
The skies around Arizona are amazing ... I saw so many changes every time I took the dogs to Kennedy Park and stayed past 6:40 pm
We drove 9 hours from Tucson to Hemet ... made a pit stop for two nights at Golden Village Palms. It was great to meet up with people we have known over the years who go there. We have both been so ILL - having caught some kind of FLU bug right before we left Rincon and a very long day for Marc driving to Hemet with muscle cramps, feeling super ill and he managed to do it! A day spent just staying inside at Golden Village Palms, then we went out the next day to meet up with people we have come to know for years. It has been eight years now since we have come through this area.
Wanting to get to Corning (before the Siskiyou Pass) in case of weather . . . . we leave early Wednesday ---- 13 hour drive.
By the time we arrived at 7 pm in Corning . . . . the windshield was almost covered with bugs (moths and bees). From Stockton to Corning were huge amounts of bee hives placed along the fruit and nut tree orchards. No wonder there is a shortage of honey bees! The trees are in full bloom; early!
Managed to go over the Siskyou Pass without incident ... no snow, no rain!
Now staying a couple of nights in Phoenix, Oregon before heading to Eugene, Oregon.
