April 22 arrive in Kelowna, BC and park in an apple orchard.
This has worked out much better than if we had stayed in the orchard we booked last year (our booking was cancelled as they are building a distillery).
Kelowna
Kelowna is a city on Okanagan Lake in the Southern Interior of BC. Kelowna has the fourth fastest urban growth rate of the country and has now reached close to 180,000. Kelowna has dry, sunny summers and with the effects of Okanagan Lake combined with mountains separating most of BC from the prairies, winters are usually short and moderate.
Kelowna produces wines that have received international recognition. The climate is ideal for many wineries. Also local produce and markets are a major attraction for locals and tourists. Kelowna is home to Sun-Rype, manufacturers of fruit bars and juices.
This is our first time spending time in this region. The allergies have already taken a bit of a toll on both of us. The dry air has caused some nose bleeds and we are frequently using saline nasal spray for relief.
This is the view from our front window.
We are in the Glenmore area - very close to shopping, cycling and pickleball (where the Nationals are being held in July) is only a ten minute drive.
Just around the corner (a two minute walk) is a great baseball/soccer field for some gorgeous lighting effects and exercise (for our four-legged partners).
2005 Country Coach Affinity - For Sale
Have had some interest in the motorhome and we have spent copious amounts of time going to vehicle/RV businesses to put word out but also in search of the Ford F150 truck we will be looking at purchasing, once a deal is made.
Of course, several spammers have contacted Marc on the website - trying to spark some interest from various parts of the country (Spain, Netherlands) in confirming a 'deal' on PayPal!
They are all prepared to buy the coach - ummm - and how do they figure on shipping it overseas - while they are "deployed." ??

The most interested couples have been from the U.S. Seems there is not a large market in BC for high end coaches so no dealers want to take it on. It will happen and when it does, we will be in a frenzy getting all loose ends tied.
Drove the twenty minute drive north to Winfield to "The Jammery" which was suggested by someone my mom knows in Burns Lake and have to say .... it is fantastic!

We had the sweet and spicy capicola eggs benny!
Since the April airing, the restaurant/gift shop has seen an increase in popularity.

This photo is from the web but . .. the Jammery was recently on the Food Networks "You Gotta Eat Here." This is a photo of a true fan of the program with the host John Catucci.

Daily walks around the immense recreational centre. This area includes a huge complex with all sports (track&field, tennis, pickleball, lacrosse, soccer, baseball, cricket)..... and a creek running through it.
For the past three weeks that I have taken the dogs here there has been a homeless couple living along the creek with their loaded shopping cart.
Recently - with some garbage left behind, they must have been asked to carry on.
The City Workers spray painted this message in the grass . . . .
"GO AWAY!"
We are heading off to Burns Lake Thursday to visit my mom and help her with some of her "honey do" list.
Her birthday is on the 9th and then, the next day is Mother's Day - how wonderful is that?
