For sale, moving out, moving in and waiting

Our coach was officially sold June 1st.   

As well as the Honda Element.

Things came down to having to have a deal in place by the 4th - either by another dealer who would've offered us less or the couple from Michigan who were frantically trying to pull together how to get the finances in place but also waiting for their dealer to offer them a deal on their fifth wheel.   They had someone from Oregon who would drive up, pick up the coach (bought sight unseen) and driven an hour to the border.  

We dropped the price one final time after having it for sale approximately five weeks and May 31st Kelowna RV put an acceptable offer in place and we accepted.  They took the coach and the Honda on trade.   Would want it all by the fourth.   Of course, as soon as we dropped the price people started calling.   But too late ..... it sold.

Two days to move out!  




No wonder the gas mileage was so low going up and over this passes this past eight years!   



Fortunately, just behind us is a huge metal workshop and we could have space to put our belongings until our new trailer arrives in about three months.


This pile isn't even half of it.  

We did it!   

Two exhausting days and everything is out by the 3rd of June.

Tomorrow - the coach goes in for an inspection, and if all goes well, is parked at Kelowna RV's parking lot.

Luckily, we did not have to clean either the motorhome (other than vacuuming) or the Honda (which is a total mess).

Thursday - the paperwork signing and insurance gets done - the inspection went very well - didn't find a thing wrong with the ten year old coach.

And, everyone at the dealership seemed very happy with the coach as well as the condition (they never came out to see it prior to the deal).   They heard from another dealership who actually did come out to walk through.

On thursday, as we are signing papers, Graeme (owner of the fifth wheel and orchard) moves his RV to our sight and we start moving IN from the boxes in the shop.   

Slowly moving in, we are now in a 29 foot fifth wheel.   Have the basics set up but NOW we have to make a trip to Comox on the Island (leaving tomorrow) to go through our storage locker there, take some things over and pick up the two back seats from the Honda Element.   We always take them out when trekking south as we load it up with bikes and gear.

The day the paperwork was passing through hands, our Blackstone 280 RKSB trailer was ordered.   Had to be ordered because we really want the 50 amp and trailers come with 30 amp.   In order to get one this year, we had to order it before mid June.

Tired of all this RV stuff yet?    

We are ....

We both love fifth wheels - with the tall ceilings and bedroom upstairs they seem roomier BUT opted for this route as we can utilize the back of the truck (and canopy) to hold our expensive bikes and gear- can not do that with the fifth wheel hitch.

Not done yet .... one more change !      

The same day of signing papers, getting the coach inspected, dropping off coach and Honda, our new truck came in (they had only two in Western Canada with the tow package we need), so it got shipped from Calgary, Alberta.

All this time, the dogs were being bounced from place to place as we had no place to leave them until the end of the day when the fifth wheel was set up.    They were introduced to several offices, spent time outside and then its time for the owner of Kelowna RV to give us a ride across town (dogs in back of his Ford F150) to the Ford dealership to sign off on the new, technical Ford F150 Platinum.

OMG!

Things have changed SO much since we bought our Honda Element in 2008.

Buttons for everything.   And I thought the Apple was complex when I first got it.  Sirius and sound is amazing.  The GPS, built in phone answering and dial up - downloads your phonebook and you can 'tell it' to dial someone's home phone OR cell OR office.   The side mirrors have a light that comes on and off briefly when someone is in your blind spot.

Of course, heated seats, and massagers for back and legs.   Each side has its own controls for heat or cold and the messaging.

And, the freakiest thing is - and I experienced it as we had an orientation from the dealer - it friggin' parallell parks itself!

Next thing with all the technology is not only vehicles driving you anywhere but going across the water so we no longer need ferries!

Well, back to unpacking and then packing to go to the Island at 6 am.
