December is proving to be a wintery month for us. We usually get a few snowfalls but it does not last for more than a week to ten days. So far we are going in to the third week and it is snowing again today. Temperatures are currently just around zero. Our first few snowfalls were incredible as the snow was very light (like you find in the interior of British Columbia) and temperatures dipping to around -12c.
One lonely apple left on the tree has been providing the birds with some relief from the weather, although there are lots of feeders out this time of year.
The logging road and trails across the way have provided a different kind of fun in the sun for the Christmas Season with cross country skiers, snowshoers, snowmobilers, and of course, sledding.
Below is a photo from the first snowfall in downtown Cumberland. It didn't seem to slow down the holiday shoppers and Christmas has slid past in record time.
