March 2009

This has been a very interesting winter (spring is only five days away ... we hope!). We have had snow on the ground since mid-November in town ...what's with that? We live on the coast! The strangest part is, we have had a few inversions with Mt. Washington getting warmer while downtown was getting snow storms. December on the ski hill showed only about an 85 cm base (usually late Dec/early Jan we have about 300). We are up to 185 now.

Olympic athletes have been training at Mt Washington (with limited terrain). Some of which, were the Int'l Paralympic Athletes competing in World Cup finals (Nordic and biathalon).

Downtown Cumberland was the site of a fun "bobsled" race and North Island Chef's association dinner for all athletes.
Most of January, February has been more suitable to golfing for us. COLD at times with -5 to -8 with the wind chill and closed at times due to frost but we managed to get in quite a few days of mud-golf! Temperatures are at least +4!
