Arizona Fine Art Expo

The Fine Arts Expo runs from Jan 9 - April 1 and showcases over 100 nationally-acclaimed artists in a working environment giving spectators access to some of the world's most gifted painters, sculptors, sketch artists, designers and photographers.  (Above is our friend John at his first showing in Scottsdale). http://www.jonalfineartstudio.com/

A friendly, informative venue and on weekends the garden of two acres with funky metal characters, copper waterfall, koi pond, great bronze sculptures comes alive with live entertainment (we miss the garden party - music, spirits & food).   Only a $10 entrance fee & you can revisit as often as you wish.

SCOTT & STEPHANIE SHANGRAW

Makers of incredible bentwood rockers and amazing carved wood sculptures.  Most woods are Alligator Juniper, black walnut, cherry & mesquite.  

The amount of work that goes into these is incredible. 

 

Most of Scott's work has been self-taught

ROGER WERMERS



Alabaster carving



Roger Wermer is a self-taught, gifted artist who began drawing at an early age under the influence of his artist mother and grandfather. Through the years he continued to enjoy art as a hobby with the intention of someday becoming a full-time artist.   In 1992 he became a full time artist (painter & sculptor).

His medium of course today is Black Hills alabaster, Colorado marble or Minnesota pipestone.

Made this one 'large' as the detail is unseen in a small photo.  (the teeth are extremely realistic and not perfect, the skin on the neck and the eyes!).

JASON AND DANIELLE NAPIER

In 1993, while working at a bronze casting foundry he started to recognize his talent for sculputure.  He quickly created works and decided to scupt full time.  He has won several awards and his sculptures capture nature.  He has a smooth style that accentuates motion & his trademark 'patina finish' has taken years to develop.  Worth looking at his website.   He was very happy to have me take his photo (I marvelled at his 'wild hare' and 'cougar with cub' - saying "if I could, I would").
