Sunday - spent the day in San Francisco. A great time to go as the traffic was minimal and we found free parking across from Pier 12 at Embarcadero, near Sue Bierman Park and the temperature was just great (about 52F [11C]) as we could leave the dogs in the car on a quiet, construction zone street.

The weather cleared and we had bright, clear skies.
Parked near a Hyatt and In the business section of downtown, we are in midst of skyscraper masses and because businesses are closed, so are the multi-coffee shops in this Washington/Drumm area.
Starbuck's and Peet's coffee shops seem to be in competition - one on every corner.
The reflection turned out totally bizarre - the building turned psychedelic!
Our intent was to walk over the Powell & take the Trolley to Lombard Street, and spend the afternoon in Chinatown and wandering Fisherman's Wharf.
The Trolley line up was about two blocks long; although it leaves every fifteen minutes, this is not the only stop for the trolley.
We took up walking & opted to just enjoy Chinatown.
Difficult decision to make - where to eat lunch. Knew we wanted Chinese & kept our eyes on places that were busy with locals, meaning, that should be a good sign. Decided on this tiny, busy take out with a small sitting area and very friendly and efficient staff.
Those 'ribs' on the right looked delicious. Glad I asked; one was oxtail, the other pigs feet.
At the top of our loop was Washington Square Park

And, before we know it, four or five hours has passed so we walk back to the car. All this within about 15 city blocks.
Dogs were sleepy but glad to see we hadn't abandoned them. Two parks on either side of the street to walk them with little traffic as we were near the famous Pier walkway with tourists, joggers and another ice skating rink nearby.
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory (Stanford Linear Accelerator Center)
Heading south (Menlo Park) along I-280 we pass the Stanford University research program -SLAC which is oeprated by Stanford for the US Department of Energy. Founded in 1962, the facility is located on 426 acres of University owned land.
The main accelerator is 2 miles long (the longest in the world), employs over 1,000 people and every year over 3,000 users from laboratories and institutes around the world use the facility to do cutting-edge research.
At 2.0 miles long, the accelerator is the longest in the world and supposed to be the world's straightest object.
Few people realize, as they're speeding along I-280 that things are speeding by beneath them at far faster rates. Positrons (positively charged particles) hurtle down the 2-mile path to impact at the other end of the tube. Tours are now available for people to get a glimpse into science that most of us don't know exists.
December 29th and outdoor pickleball is back in play; sun is shining, courts are dry and a good turn out.
Tuesday's are a regular evening play but due to it being New Year's Day - Steve & Gloria organized the group to meet up at 2:00. A great sunny day and about 30 people showed up. Good way to ring in the New Year. A great group - will miss you.

Our last few days here in Morgan Hill look great - sun, warmth and will fit in some golf and dog agility.
Saturday (Jan 5) will spend one night in Bakersfield, then off to Escondido, CA.
