Travelling onwards

So, here's to some truly "positive thinking."

Lucky that the slide went in while still staying at Seal Bay Park in Comox (no where to have it repaired around there).

Lucky that the windshield rock chip happened prior to passing by the RV Glass Solutions in Coburg, Oregon and they fit us in right away.

Lucky we didn't have to pay out humungus $$$$$ to have the slide fixed.

Hadn't paid for RV parks for three days.

And, have now been able to fill the fridge again!

Oh - and lucky to be leaving Eugene, Oregon behind us as millions of Oregon Ducks Fans converge on Eugene to watch their favorite team.


The malls are a sea of green and yellow . . . this RV takes it to the max!








RV Glass Solutions was our living quarters for the one evening and until 3 pm the next day.  

Saturday evening stayed at Premier RV park (Junction City) where we had the slide checked out.   Inside the hangar is approximately 30 motor coaches (about 15 for sale and others getting a variety of repairs).  Incredibly massive buildings.

 Up a 6:00 in the dark for our trek to Corning, CA.

Traffic not too bad over Grants Pass & the Siskiyou Pass (4,311 ft); a little slow down between Yreka and Weed but otherwise uneventful.

Shasta Lake

With the California drought this summer, the water levels are low.  This year to date, 130 feet below normal and stats say levels are nearly 100 feet from the worst its ever been and that there is still time to make up rainfall during the Spring.

Man, that is one big load of potatoes!  

Imagine the amount of potato chips you can get from one load!

BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA

Arrived at River Run RV Park by 4 pm.    Our troubles and whoas don't appear so bad after all.    This poor guy beside us, on a short vacation from L.A. ends up with a shredded tire which ripped off the bottom of the slide and leaving wires hanging down.   The slide and some electricals are not working so he's going to finish his holiday & get it repaired back home.

  The Kern River is non-existent this time of year.   As far as you can see, is sand and of course, oil wells.

Stopping here as we're familiar with the RV Park - nice big pull thrus, quiet and the oil change happens just down the road at Keith & Jerry's Truck & Trailer repair (a quarter of the cost than some of the RV service centers; $230 versus about $500).

Full gated, this RV Park has a fabulous wide pathway along both sides of the river.   The other side has a huge community park . . . walked across the dry river with the dogs down to the end where these oil drills are quietly working 24/7.   They look like giant aliens.

Sept 29th, our final night at River Run RV, oil has been changed (Marc spent a great deal of time checking underneath the motorhome while it was up on the hoist .... all looks fine).

Off to Vista, California tomorrow (thru Los Angeles)!
