Left Junction City (Oregon) on Friday, Oct 28 for Corning, California (about 9 hrs - with our stops and driving slower than car speed - averaging about 60 mph).
Winco groceries (an employee owned company - and only in California and Oregon) ... reasonably priced and hosts Leonardi's Pizzas ($10.00 for 24" and $1.99 for a 2nd pizza if you desire). . . options for toppings and baked on the premises.
Scenery from Chowchilla to Bakersfield .. crops, crops & crops. Valley after valley of farms crops and the occasional cattle farms.
Bakersfield; we planned on staying the night but the RV park (& others) were booked with large groups so we carried on as far as Boron, California (meaning another 10 hr day) and stayed the night behind the Burger King at a large intersection, truck stop.
| Are we almost there? |
Kylie & Tazz have been great through three full days of travel - most of the time Kylie lies on Bev's lap on the large passenger seat (as above) and Tazz in the dog bed between the driver's seat & passenger's seat.
The crossing into Arizona State, across the Colorado River. . . .Hwy 40
So, left Junction City, OR on Friday and arrived in Cottonwood, AZ on Sunday about 5:00 pm - exhausted from not much sleep between trains/trucks and noise at night ... we are now in the State Park where we can see the stars at night and Jerome way up on the hillside at night and hear the crickets.
