Thanksgiving

Lucky us ... we get to celebrate Canadian Thanksgiving in October and today ....  after a short break, Thanksgiving turkey dinner at Marc's relatives (Steve & Sandy).

A hugely celebrated holiday here in the U.S (thanks for President Abraham Lincoln proclaiming Thanksgiving a holiday in 1863) , everything is closed - well, until midnight as it is Black Friday starting at midnight.  People are camped out already at Best Buy (10:00 in the morning) for the bargains!

A receptionist informed me she went to Black Friday several years ago, shopping for her then young daughters - had a bicycle in her buggy and a woman was trying to rip it out of her buggy, screaming "I don't have time to wait" ... she didn't want to wait until they put more out & was putting claim on the bicycle in someone else's shopping cart!   (I'm dating myself here, but I remember seeing the same thing when the newest Cabbage Patch Dolls came out for Christmas)!

Can't think of anything tearing at my purse strings that would warrant me going through those lineups and fierce competition.

So, I am relaxing, getting my hair done and Marc is going road riding tomorrow.

ON A VERY SAD NOTE:
Apache Junction was the scene of a fatal plane crash last night.   At approx 6 pm we heard a loud bang - sounded like dynamite.   A small plane crashed into the Superstition Mts (just a couple of miles east of where we are staying) and presumably all six perished. Three men, three children appear to have all died in the crash.   A father and three of his children (ages 5-9).  Only news so far is they are still searching and have found one body, and apparently a local family.

Will catch up (again) with some pics and local happenings ... but first things first ... eating!
