Feels good to get 'out' again and checking out some new territory. We drove (after wearing the 'puppies' out at the dog park & we can now leave the puppy for up to 4 hours) 22 miles SE and only 5 miles from Idyllwild to Hurkey Creek Park & Campground. Hurkey Creek is home to the 24 hour Adrenaline Mt Biking Race (last held late April 2009). The first 3 miles is a steady uphill (1,340 ft of climbing) with 2 miles of single track through rolling hills and a long meadow.
You travel some fire road and then 3 miles of downhill, along some gorgeous Manzanita forest and single track that at times you have to be careful due to rutts/troughs. Must be some water up here at some point! The idea of the 24 hour race is to do as many laps as possible over the period of time; the 2nd place winner completed 18 laps of the approximately 10 mile loop. Exhausted just thinking about it! Lots of soft, sandy terrain.
OK .... which one of you did it?

Went cycling for about an hour and thought, the temperature is great, puffing like crazy and having a hard time (as usual) on any uphills then got off the bike and my bike seat went through a hole in the shorts. Wondered what was going on . . .

Turns out, THIS (below) happened and I didn't notice for an hour or so . . .

The bright blue is the huge HOLE 'someone' chewed in my bike shorts. Strange this was not only not noticing but could've happend two days ago. Didn't see any extra fabric laying around - thought right away - Oh No ... a vet bill and a very sore puppy stomach coming up. Nothing happened, nothing seen!!!!!
