Left Hemet for Chowchilla (about a 7 hour drive NW). Hemet is amazingly green and the flowers popped out of nowhere with the recent rain. Temperatures quickly change but lately we have had about 80+ F with strong winds.
At Kramer Junction - truck loads of oranges and lemons making their way to market. Kramer Jnct is the largest solar electric generating plant in the world, producing over 354 megawatts of electricity. We saw the rows and rows of 'something' and wondered what they were; not green houses, not agriculture but acres of electricity generating panels.
Above, a Great Tailed Grackle - commonly found in agricultural areas and has a wide variety of sounds; known to be a noisy pest species.
A flowering Octatillo cactus. The blossoms only occur at the tips of the plant; the 'thorns' are hidden by foliage along the stalks.
