Happy St. Patrick's Day
Getting ready to leave early in the morning for Hemet, California . . .
Kelpies are smart - we're teaching Tazz to spell Marc off driving on long trip days!
Marc, jumping the gap on the Cathedral Rock mt biking/hiking trails.Various mt peaks & formations are named: Coffee Pot, Cathedral, Snoopy, Chimney . etc .... Chicken Point we learned, is named due to the sharp, steep road leading just beyond the point...the last point where you can "chicken out." (I think this is named by tourists going on the rugged backroad jeep tours ... places where hikers and bikers are not allowed).
As we travelled along, the scenery got more and more spectacular. On the other side of this ridge we found 'people' ... there is a parking lot and easy access to the trail leading up to the Cathedral Rocks. It gets extremely steep in order to reach the top, with steps built into the rock formation in one spot. Most people were of course, on the rounded ridges below.
The grasses and brush below are very green - almost turquoise in color, in contrast to the red rock. Ocatillo are ready to bloom and reach about 20 ft tall. Prickly pear are abundant and agave. Our RV park has been great - the small, remote park has been great and the people are much happier than the last place we stayed (with over 1750 sites). A number of people from Colorado and Wisconsin. In fact, we bumped into a couple who recognized right away that our dogs are kelpies (not doberman crosses) and turns out they are neighbours and friends for over 30+ years of the breeders where Tazz came from - in Wisconsin. Small world after all!
