Rainy, Windy Day in the Verde Valley
| Sedona near the Holy Chapel |
The Red Rocks are even more dramatic in the rain ... contours show up even more and the red even more intense. Spent the better part of the day checking out of Dead Horse Ranch State Park going from rain storm to rain storm in Sedona and Camp Verde.
| Woven wollen blankets (see a frozen Canadian in the midst?) |
Found a great market just east of Sedona - looks huge on the outside and is actually 'huger' inside.
The Son Silver West Gallery
is a fun, southwest everything market with budget souvenir items to fine art, inexpensive to precious stone jewellry, authentic woven blankets, an entire room with firearms (locked room), spices and sauces, furniture, Christmas ornaments and on and on. Every now and then you came across a real fire in a fire pit - a welcome feeling with the cool wind and rain.
Mt bikers with bikes mounted on their racks were stopping frequently --- NOT a good idea to try & bike the red rock in Sedona when wet ... the red sludge collects nicely in your drive chains, bearings and basically can cost $$$$$.
